Cedar Group
SINGAPORE

Cedar Group in Singapore.

Canadian tax, legal and valuation advice for families and businesses with interests in both Canada and Asia. Cedar Advisory Pte. Ltd. is our Singapore-incorporated firm, working with the Canadian practice as one team.

WHO WE WORK WITH

When Canada is part of the picture.

Since 2020, Cedar Group has advised private-company owners and families on the decisions where tax, legal and valuation questions arrive together: reorganizations, succession, estate planning, and moves across borders. In Singapore, those decisions increasingly involve Asia.

Relocating, in either direction

A Canadian resident taking a role in Singapore. A family in Asia settling in Canada. Residency, what happens to companies, investments and property on the way out or in, and the Canadian filings that continue afterwards.

Families across two regions

Parents in Asia, children in Canada, or the reverse. Succession and estate plans that hold in both countries, gifts and inheritances that cross borders, and the Canadian reporting that follows them. We work alongside your family office and its Singapore advisers.

Businesses across the Pacific

A Canadian company opening in Singapore or Southeast Asia. An Asian group investing into Canada. Structure, financing, repatriation, treaty positions, and the Canadian legal work to implement it.

US connections

Many families in the region include a US citizen, a US property or a US filing obligation. Our US tax principals handle the American side alongside the Canadian one.

We advise, design and coordinate. Singapore trustees, lawyers, corporate secretaries and banks remain with licensed Singapore providers, and we work alongside them. We do not act as trustee, manage investments, or prepare Singapore tax filings.

HOW WE WORK

Written advice first. Implementation second.

Every engagement begins with Phase I. We learn the facts, research the technical questions on both sides of the Pacific, and deliver a written strategy with the costs and benefits in dollars. Nothing is implemented until you have read it.

Phase II is implementation, scoped and quoted separately, with our Canadian team and your Singapore advisers working from the same document. A first conversation is free: twenty minutes by video. If we are not the right firm for the question, we say so and suggest who is.

WHY SINGAPORE

Based in Singapore. Serving Asia-Pacific.

Canadian trade and investment into Southeast Asia routes through Singapore, and the region's families organise their affairs here. Many of the families and businesses we serve in Canada already reach here, through a parent, a subsidiary, or a child who moved.

Our Singapore office keeps the Asia side of the conversation moving in Asian business hours, with the Canadian tax, US tax, legal and valuation practices one call away. The Canadian practice is fully staffed and unchanged.

QUESTIONS

Before the first call.

Is this a Singapore firm or a Canadian firm?+

Both. Cedar Advisory Pte. Ltd. is a Singapore company and part of Cedar Group, whose practices are based in Canada. One firm, two offices.

Do you advise on Singapore tax?+

No. Our expertise is Canadian and US tax and how each interacts with a life or a business in Asia. For Singapore tax, legal and trust matters we work alongside licensed Singapore professionals, and we coordinate the whole picture.

My family office already has advisers. Where do you fit?+

On the Canadian side of the table. Your Singapore advisers keep doing what they do. We handle the Canadian tax, legal and reporting consequences for family members in Canada and keep the two sets of advice consistent.

What does it cost to start?+

Nothing. The first conversation is twenty minutes, free. After that, every piece of work is scoped and quoted in writing before it begins.
